Alabama Search and Rescue (ALSAR) is a dedicated volunteer organization specializing in bloodhound scent discrimination trailing teams and technical rescue operations. We are committed to serving the people of Alabama by assisting public safety agencies in locating endangered missing persons.
At Alabama Search and Rescue, our field team members are certified to National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR) SARTECH III or higher standards. Our bloodhounds are rigorously trained to NASAR Canine SARTECH Trailing I standards, ensuring top-notch search capabilities.
Our Bloodhound K9 trailing teams utilize scent discrimination techniques to track specific individuals, regardless of weather conditions or time of day. With a proven track record, our teams have successfully followed trails up to 8 days old and 10+ miles long. Additionally, we offer Human Remains Detection (HRD) Cadaver K9s and divers for search and recovery efforts.
All ALSAR members are certified in First Aid/BLS, FEMA NIMS 100, 200, 700, and SARTECH 3. Our team leaders hold SARTECH 2 and Wilderness First Responder certifications. We operate around the clock, 24/7/365, to search for endangered missing persons throughout Alabama.
For assistance from ALSAR, public safety agencies can contact us at 205-206-9463 anytime, day or night.
Alabama Search and Rescue is recognized as an Alabama Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider, exempt from licensure by the Alabama Department of Public Health.
